Meyrem Almaci (born 25 February 1976, in Sint-Niklaas) is a Belgian (Flemish) politician and member of the ecological party Groen!. On 10 June 2007, she was elected into the Belgian Chamber of Representatives for the first time. In 2010, she was re-elected.

She is the leader of Groen! (and Ecolo) in the Belgian Chamber of Representatives.

Biography

Almaci has dual Turkish-Belgian citizenship. In Ghent, she got a master's degree in "Comparative Cultural Sciences".

She's currently living in Berchem, a district of Antwerp.

She has founded in 2000 the section of Agalev in her home place at that time Sint-Gillis-Waas and she became councillor in the same year. She is the spokesperson of Jong Groen! since 2005. 2006 she moved to Berchem, where she has become district Councillor.

Meyrem Almaci is a master in Comparative Cultural Studies. She has worked as a scientific worker in research projects at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and the K.U. Leuven as from 2002 about study choises and the study success of immigrants in higher studies.

She is married and she still lives in Antwerp. She has two children.
